The Journey That Led Us Here
Jen and Joel have been friends since 2016. What started our love of travel was different, and our experiences are very different, but since day one we have had a shared passion for traveling.
As a young child, Jennifer traveled around the world with her parents who worked for British Airways. Some of her fondest childhood memories are of those experiences. She has continued making new memories traveling with her family.
It wasn’t until he was in his mid-20’s that Joel traveled away from Small Town, Michigan. On that first trip, he was fascinated by the cultural differences, new perspectives, and the local history. Since that first trip, 30 years ago, Joel has enjoyed engaging with and learning from different cultures.
That belief, that travel has the power to connect people, spark curiosity, and create lasting memories, is why we decided to start JJ Travel Associates.
When we “opened the doors” in 2018, we wanted to plan vacations that are more than just checking off a destination. We believe the world is like a giant classroom, and every trip can be a chance to learn, grow, connect, and have fun.
Since day one, we’ve made it our mission to develop relationships with trusted vendors, join respected industry associations, and continuously refine our expertise through personal travel and industry training. Meet the J’s Behind Your Perfect Vacation
Jennifer Edelson
Before starting JJ Travel Associates Jennifer was a long-time sales director for a direct sales company and enjoyed traveling in her spare time. The skills she learned in her previous career — attention to detail, managing complex projects, and relationship building — combined with the knowledge gained from personal travel experiences make Jen the go-to travel planner for one of a kind, highly customized independent travel.
Jennifer lives in New Jersey with her husband, a cat (Mindy), and a dog (Gizmo).
Joel Wesseldyke
Joel travels with a purpose: to learn something about the history and culture of countries around the world. His belief is that in as many ways as we are different, most people, no matter what country they live in, care about the same things — spending time and making memories with family, friends, and living their best life.
Relationships are the key to Joel’s success, both with travelers and people within the travel industry. He specializes in planning ocean and river cruises, guided group tours to all 7 continents, and all-inclusive resorts.
Joel currently lives in New Jersey with his wife and teen daughter.
