Nestled right on Bavaro Beach, Hideaway at Royalton Punta Cana is the perfect adults-only, all inclusive, resort-within-a-resort retreat for those wanting a luxury experience in the Dominican Republic. Hideaway at Royalton Punta Cana has the finest in gourmet cuisine, artfully prepared cocktails and relaxing spa treatments, all on one pristine beachfront property.

The Dominican Republic has done a fantastic job of keeping guests healthy and making it easy for American’s to visit. As of March 2021, there is no Covid test requirement to vacation in the DR, you simply have to fill out a form stating you don’t knowingly have Covid or any symptoms. Currently the US government is requiring a negative test to return home and the resorts along with the government in the Dominican Republic have made testing available.

One of the concerns I hear from clients is related to testing positive while on vacation. Specifically about the cost of an extended stay, medical care and associated expenses if necessary. Three things I advise are: use a travel agent who knows all the regulations and how to navigate the logistics (if you don’t have one call me: 844-483-6669); purchase vacation insurance; and opt-in to the government-sponsored insurance once you arrive — it’s free and optional but wise. With those suggestions in mind, most of the resorts are offering to provide low or no-cost accommodations for guests (and their family) who test positive and should you require medical care, insurance will cover most or all the expense, depending on the policy — check the fine print and know the details.

With Covid policies in mind, the DR is still a great — safe — option for a vacation and if you’re looking for an all inclusive affordable-luxury vacation, Hideaway at Royalton should be on your shortlist of options. For starters, the Hideaway section is adults only which, if you’re traveling without kids is a bonus. You’ll be able to relax by the pool or on a beautiful beach without the noise and constant motion of children. You’ll also be able to eat your meals in adults only restaurants.

It’s important to note that Covid has (temporarily) changed the experience at Hideaway at Royalton. Restaurants are open on a rotating schedule (and I’ve heard from clients the food is acceptable but not fantastic — which is subjective), most interactions and requests are done with an app, and there has been some confusion about the logistics of the mandatory Covid test for guests from the United States. As all inclusive resorts go, the staff at Hideaway are kind and helpful (as you would expect) and since Hideaway is operating at about 30% capacity, the staff to guest ratio is very good so there will always be someone nearby to assist you. Other than while on the beach or eating, you will be required to wear a mask in public locations where social distancing is difficult.
